Otto & Fanny's Place is located on Tavewa Island in the heart of the Yasawa Islands which lie like a chain of blue beads off the north west coast of Viti Levu. Tavewa Island overlooks the Blue Lagoon, world famous after two Hollywood movies of the same name were filmed in these spectacularly beautiful islands, called the Yasawa's.
The sheer natural beauty and tranquility of these islands comprising of turquoise waters lapping the shores of white sand beaches elevates the soul and in our opinion, here is where you will enjoy Fiji at its best. The Yasawa Islands are a rare and romantic place where crystal clear waters are home to tropical fish and beautiful coral reefs offering spectacular diving and snorkeling.
The Islands are alive with mystery and myths and it is here where the Fijian people live as they have for centuries with their traditional and simple lifestyle. Visit a village and experience the "real" Fiji or simply relax in "heaven on earth".
Otto & Fanny's Place has only six bures and all have their own toilet and shower. However, you will not find hot water nor will you find electricity which is powered by generators only. However, you will be treated to the delicious cuisine cooked by either Fanny herself or her son Harry who have made a name for themselves for their wonderful culinary skills. Otto has constructed a new kitchen, thereby giving Fanny greater freedom in her creativity for mouth watering dishes. It is therefore no surprise that Otto & Fanny's Place has so many repeat guests.
ACTIVITIES
Volleyball, swimming, fishing, hiking, wind surfing or just relax on the beach with a book. For a small fee, you can snorkel, deep sea fish, take day trips to other islands, obi, kayak, shell marketing, meke or visit the famous Yasawa-I-Lau limestone caves. The Limestone caves are steeped in Legend and were made famous by Brooke Shields in the movie "Blue Lagoon". Inside the caves, you can swim or simply marvel at the magnificence of the main cavern. ACCOMMODATION
The resort has 5 bures (double/twin), 3 traditional & 2 concrete & galvanized iron roof which can have an extra bed and a dorm that sleeps 8 persons. All bures have private facilities and the dorm has a communal shower & toilet. Conditions are simple but comfortable. They do not have wardrobes/hanging space for clothes. They do NOT have hot water. The water for showers & toilets is from a bore (well) and is hard (soap takes a while to lather), although they are in the process of purchasing a water softener from New Zealand. Bures are provided with fans & mosquito nets. Electricity is from 06:00 - 23:00 hrs. per day. It is also a good idea to bring a torch (flashlight). Guests are also requested to bring plenty of sunscreen and insect repellent and also snorkeling gear (if possible).
